Acrobat provides standard tools to split PDF into single pages. For more sophisticated tasks like to split PDF files into groups of pages (e.g. chapters) we have created the tool MVPDFPageExtractor.
For example MVPDFPageExtractor is able to work with external information (e.g. CSV files) and using document specific content or meta information like font names or font sizes as well.
MVPDFExtractor can work with single input files and/or with folders, using a customized naming convention for the output.
We are able to adapt such tools to our customers needs in a short term.

A lot of applications are able to add bookmarks and links while creating a PDF file. Examples are QuarkXPress, InDesign, Word or OpenOffice.
But there are situations where a more sophisticated solution is required, e.g. by dealing with complex contents in documentations or catalogs.
