Acrobat provides standard tools to split PDF into single pages. For more sophisticated tasks like to split PDF files into groups of pages (e.g. chapters) we have created the tool MVPDFPageExtractor.

For example MVPDFPageExtractor is able to work with external information (e.g. CSV files) and using document specific content or meta information like font names or font sizes as well.

MVPDFExtractor can work with single input files and/or with folders, using a customized naming convention for the output.

We are able to adapt such tools to our customers needs in a short term.

The MVPDFTools are based on Acrobat JavaScript. They can be used with Acrobat 5 or higher (not Reader). You can use them freely with an understanding that, if you find them useful, you will make a donation to a charity fund.

Meanwhile, some of the functionality is implemented in newer Acrobat Versions. However, we are still counting many downloads. That's why the MVPDFTools are still available on our website.

Functionality

The script adds new menu items to the Tools menu of Acrobat (not Reader!).

With MVPDFTools you can

• create new, empty documents
• duplicate pages
• create page headers / footers using your identity as set in the Acrobat preferences (e.g. company name)
• transfer identity information from Acrobat preferences into document info fields (e.g. company name as title, name as author)
• create page numbers
• "flatten" pages or documents (i.e. convert form fields and annotations to page content)

Installation

Windows

Download and unpack the Zip-File and copy it's contents into the JavaScript folder of your Acrobat Installation (e.g. .../Acrobat 7.0/Acrobat/Javascript)

Usage with Acrobat 7 and higher

Please enable the JavaScript execution privileges to make the tools work.

You can do this with [Menu:Edit:Preferences:JavaScript]

Usage with Acrobat 8 and higher

Due to new security concepts some of the functionality does not work with Acrobat Version 8 or higher.
